The reeded glass look in Premiere Pro, live
Filming through fluted glass without the glass: how Lamella builds the look, and the settings that matter.
Reeded glass, the fluted panes found in old doors and shop windows, turns any subject into a set of stretched, repeated slices. Lamella, the free effect of ZIBA Effects, builds that look on your GPU, live, on any clip.
How it works
Lamella cuts the frame into lamellae. Each one behaves like a cylindrical lens: it bends, stretches and splits the image behind it. The subject stays recognizable but flows from one lamella to the next, highlights bleed, and colors soften with the refraction blur.
The settings that matter
- Lamella count and angle: vertical, horizontal, or a grid, at any angle.
- Lens profile: Lens for the classic look, Sawtooth or Triangle for sharper facets, Flat for a pane with no curve.
- Refraction and stretch: how much each lamella bends the image.
- Chromatic separation: a touch of color dispersion along the edges.
- Amount: from 0 to 100 %. At 0 %, the output is the source, bit for bit, which makes animating the reveal clean.
In motion
Because the effect is deterministic, two renders of the same frame are identical: no random flicker between your preview and your export. When the subject moves, the distortions slide across the lamellae smoothly.
